The SEED Miami staff will work collaboratively to prepare students for success in college and the global workforce. They will recognize and embrace that they are responsible for the academic, social, and emotional development of children and build the relationships with students, families and colleagues to actualize our mission.


As an essential part of the school team, a Mental Health Counselor’s role is to guide students in their personal, social and academic development. Mental Health Counselors at SEED Miami consult with students, families, teachers, boarding staff, other members of the Student Support Team and external providers as needed in order to identify and respond to the developmental needs of our students. They are responsible for designing prevention and intervention strategies in order to guide students on a healthy path toward adulthood. SEED Mental Health Counselors assist students in being able to communicate clearly, solve problems, collaborate, gain independence, understand others’ perspectives and cultures, and become  college and career ready. They lead discussions in one-on-one, small group, and whole-class settings. 


The primary purpose of the Split-Shift Resident Advisor is to monitor students during the morning hours prior to the start of the school day and provide additional support in the Student Life Program during afterschool and evening hours. Split-Shift Resident Advisors will report to and work with the Overnight Manager to handle all emergencies and student issues that occur during the morning hours.


The primary purpose of the position of the Student Life Counselor is to serve as the principal direct caregiver for students within an assigned house. This includes assisting students in achieving academic and social goals.  The major focus of the Student Life Counselor is to create, establish and maintain a productive and interactive environment for a assigned house within the resident halls. This position is responsible for monitoring and supervising students during the main hours of the Student Life Program.  Student Life Counselors will support the teaching of academic interventions, social development curricula, and other Student Life Programming.  The Student Life Counselor will also be expected to praise and redirect students in accordance with the student handbook and Model of Care.
 
Student Life Counselors are responsible for nurturing and educating the students who are entrusted to their care.  Student Life Counselors are responsible for maintaining a safe, secure environment in which students can learn and grow.  Student Life Counselors model, guide, and teach students social, self-help, and life-long learning skills.  Student Life Counselors are also responsible for supporting and assessing student achievement. Student Life Counselors also assist students in maintaining relationships with their family by remaining in contact with parents/guardians. Student Life Counselors are the primary advocate for the students in their care. This position requires afternoon and evening hours.

The Director of High School Academic Affairs will lead our new high school academic program, including hiring, supervising, supporting, and evaluating high school staff members; supporting the development of high school curricula; and collaborating with other school leadership to execute a seamless, integrated 24-hour college preparatory program.


The primary purpose of the Morning Program Advisor is to monitor students during the morning hours prior to the start of the school day and provide additional support in the Student Life Program during afterschool and evening hours. Morning Program Advisors will report to and work with the Overnight Manager to handle all emergencies and student issues that occur during the morning hours.


Please note: this job is based out of The SEED Foundation in Washington, D.C. The College Transition & Success (CTS) Program Coordinator manages projects designed to support the college transition and postsecondary progress of SEED graduates.  The CTS Program Coordinator is an entry-level position which primarily focuses on managing professional development, college transition programming, financial education programming, and scholarships.  This person will work closely with members of the CTS and school-based College Counseling teams.
